The scenic ~25‑minute ride winds up to Machu Picchu (2,430 m / 7,972 ft).

Before entering, use the restrooms outside the gate (small fee). Your guided visit follows Circuit 2 (or best available), including the panoramic viewpoint near the Watchtower, agricultural terraces, ritual fountains, royal quarters, and masterful Inca stonework. Yes. Horse rentals are available at the trailhead and are managed by local community members. Horses can help you reach close to the summit but cannot go all the way up due to steep and narrow terrain.
